Wisbech Grammar School celebrated an excellent set of GCSE results, with pupils achieving strong outcomes across a broad range of subjects following years of hard work.
For many pupils, today’s results mark the beginning of the next stage of their education, with a large number continuing into the Sixth Form at WGS to study A Levels. Others will move on to specialist colleges, apprenticeships and alternative pathways that reflect their individual interests and ambitions.
“Results day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our pupils and everything they have achieved. Behind every grade is a story of commitment, perseverance and personal growth, supported by the dedication of our teachers and the encouragement of families. We are incredibly proud of this year group and of the confident and curious young people they have become. We look forward to seeing them continue to develop, discover new interests and pursue their ambitions in the years ahead.” – Mr Rimmer
For the pupils themselves, the journey to GCSE results has been one of hard work, perseverance and learning how to stay motivated. We asked some of our pupils to reflect on what helped them along the way and the advice they would give to younger pupils.
George advised “Do lots of past papers, then focus on the areas you get wrong so you can work harder on those”.
Calleigh said “Try lots of different study methods until you find what works best for you”.
Isabell said: “Thinking about Results Day kept me focused and the anticipation of opening my results envelope”
Among the many outstanding individual achievements were:
Calleigh W-S – achieving 5 Grade 9’s, 2 Grade 8’s and 2 Grade 7’s.
Mia L – achieving 4 Grade 9’s and 6 Grade 8’s.
Nathanael W – achieving 2 Grade 9’s, 6 Grade 7’s and 1 Grade 6.
Isla – achieving 2 Grade 9’s, 1 Grade 8, and 5 Grade 7s.
Isabell S-S – achieving 1 Grade 9, 5 Grade 8’s and 3 Grade 7’s.
Harriett C – achieving 6 Grade 8’s, 1 Grade 7 and 2 Grade 6’s.
For this year’s Fifth Form pupils, their GCSEs represent an important milestone, but their time at Wisbech Grammar has been about much more than examinations. Over the years, pupils have embraced opportunities across school life, developing their interests through sport, music, drama and enrichment.
We asked pupils to sum up their time at WGS in just three words.
Kitty said: “Supported, Inspired and Motivated”.
Nathanael said : Community, Fun and Motivating”.
Their individual journeys have been as varied as their achievements, with pupils now preparing to pursue subjects and opportunities that reflect their own interests and aspirations. For those returning to WGS Sixth Form, this marks the beginning of an exciting new phase, with greater independence and the opportunity to explore subjects in greater depth.
Congratulations to all our pupils receiving their results today. We are immensely proud of what they have achieved and wish them every success as they continue to build on the strong foundations they have developed at Wisbech Grammar School.
