If you are a member of the Teaching Staff you will be expected to:

  • Teach and inspire our pupils with your subject and demonstrate passion and enthusiasm as you teach;
  • Be part of the School’s co-curricular activities programme adding a broad base to pupils interest and learning;
  • Be a form tutor supporting and guiding pupils;
  • Join in with our Sports curriculum and share particular sporting expertise you may have.

If you are a member of the Support Staff you will be expected to;

  • Support pupils’ learning to create a positive learning environment;
  • Provide services to staff, pupils and parents that enable education and learning to take place;
  • Work with other Teaching and Support staff colleagues across the school.

Teacher of English (Maternity Cover)(required from September 2020)

We require an outstanding, dynamic teacher of English Language and Literature to work with pupils within KS3 to KS4, who has a proven ability to communicate their enthusiasm and passion for English, from September 2020 as a maternity cover post.

You will be deeply committed to the success of every pupil and will have an excellent understanding of current educational thinking, demonstrating a proactive and innovative approach towards future developments in the subject.

The post represents a great opportunity for an experienced teacher or a well-qualified ambitious entrant into the profession, who can share their expertise and love of the subject, and teach lessons that inspire and enthuse our pupils. Equally important are personality, aptitude, and initiative, the ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively at all levels.

Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL), September 2020 (Maternity Cover)

A highly qualified, enthusiastic and talented linguist is required to lead a well-integrated Modern Foreign Languages team offering German, French, and Spanish, taking overall responsibility for the teaching of Modern Foreign Languages at Wisbech Grammar School.

French, German and Spanish is taught in a carousel to pupils in the Prep School and in the First and Second Forms (Years 7 and 8) in the Senior School. In the Third Form, pupils will choose to study two of these languages and will continue with at least one of them to GCSE level. All three languages are available for study to A-level in the Sixth Form. The department has enjoyed significant success in examinations and offers a wide variety of experiences for those who study languages; these include cultural evenings for all three languages, an Easter Study trip to Salamanca, a French Chateau trip for Second Form pupils, exchanges with our partner school in Germany, visits to Christmas markets and joint trips with other departments, such as Food trips to France.

The post represents an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher to share their expertise, love, and passion for these subjects at Wisbech Grammar School.

Salary is according to Wisbech Grammar School’s own scale.
