“I am lucky enough to be running this year’s London Marathon for Bowel Cancer UK. I applied for a place with Bowel Cancer UK as they are a charity that have a special connection for me as I lost my Dad to Bowel Cancer in 2008.
I am a complete beginner runner having never ran before January of this year. I have always watched the London Marathon each year with admiration for all the people taking part and found it hugely inspiring. I have always wanted to give it a go myself and so I was absolutely thrilled when I was offered the opportunity this year and took it with both hands.
The journey has been a real challenge but I have loved every second of it (for the most part!). I have run close to 300 miles in training including 3 half marathon races, 2 10K races and numerous park runs. The experience has been fantastic and I would encourage anyone to give running a go. I can’t wait to take my place at the start line on Sunday.
I would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone for their incredible support and kind words given to me along the way”. Christine Easthall
