WGS Celebrates 120 Years of Wisbech High School with a Special Reunion

20th May 25

WGS was honoured to welcome back former pupils of Wisbech High School, affectionately known as the ‘Old Girls’, to celebrate a remarkable milestone: the 120th anniversary of the High School.

The day was filled with joy, reflection, and heartfelt reconnections. Among the guests was the group’s eldest member, aged 99, who joined others in a memorable tour through the familiar corridors of their former school, bringing the past vividly to life.

Guests enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea and spent time poring over memorabilia from their school days, sharing stories and laughter as they reconnected with old friends and relived cherished memories.

One of the day’s highlights was the unveiling of a commemorative tree and plaque in the school grounds, an enduring symbol to mark this special anniversary and the legacy of the High School.

We were particularly touched by the kind words shared by one of our guests:

“A big thank you to all for looking after us so well at the 120-year celebration of the Wisbech High School. It was such a treat to see the old school again after all these years and looking so lovely in the May sunshine. The pupils who showed us round made us feel so welcome and gave off some very positive vibes about the School. Once again, many thanks and may Wisbech Grammar School continue to go from strength to strength!”

It was a privilege to host this event and to celebrate the legacy of the High School that continues to shape and inspire our community.
