Sport is an intrinsic part of School life at Wisbech Grammar School. From an early age we hope that pupils will engage in sport and fitness and discover the benefits that this brings both to health and well-being. While we are operating in these exceptional circumstances, our coaches have developed a series of challenge and skill videos that everyone can do at home.
We offer team sports against local and regional schools from under 9 to under 18 and we encourage pupils to take part in our program. We also participate in National and Regional competitions in Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Cricket and Athletics. We run clubs in Gymnastics, Badminton, Table-Tennis, Squash and Fitness, enabling pupils to foster an ethos of sport and fitness for life.
With over 37 acres, we have wonderful facilities with twelve Rugby pitches ranging from under 9 to under 18, five grass cricket squares, two astro-turf pitches, a flood-lit hockey pitch, a 400 metres athletics track, alongside throwing and jumping areas. We also have a fully equipped sports hall with five cricket net bays, a netball court, indoor hockey pitch, and badminton and basketball courts. To support pupils in improving their fitness we have a fitness suite and a studio where we hold fitness classes.
We have developed professional partnerships with Northampton Saints and Northampton CCC, which has allowed us to work with professional teams to give our pupils player pathways into Cricket and Rugby programmes.
We have highly qualified and experienced coaches leading sport throughout the School, several of whom coach to a high level outside of School. These are supported by a Physiotherapist and a Strength and Conditioning to provide pupils with a comprehensive programme of support.
