Cricket
Cricket at Wisbech Grammar School is thriving and the school encourages all pupils to play in House and School matches. During formative years we concentrate on giving all young cricketers the opportunity to build a sound technique. This we achieve through specialist coaches, led by our Head of Cricket Neil Taylor and assisted by ex-County Cricketer Steve Goldsmith and Cambridgeshire Director of Coaching James Williams.
A robust fixture list against local and regional schools gives cricketers ample opportunity to put into practice all the new skills they have learned. We regularly field 20 boys’ and girls’ cricket teams during the Trinity term. Pupils also have the opportunity to go on day trips and overnight tours, which enables them to play in a variety of environments.
We have established a partnership with Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, which provides talented cricketers with a pathway to a professional County Club. We currently have pupils training with Northampton, as well as pupils playing County Age group cricket for Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
