England Hockey Futures Cup Silver Medal Success for Matt Goodley & Mrs Glover
During the summer Matt Goodley was invited to represent the England Hockey Pennie Pumas at Futures Cup following a successful training and tournaments at the Midland Performance Centre. Futures cup is the first major England Hockey Junior tournament for U15 and U17 Girls and Boys to get their first experience of playing National Hockey in a Tournament that is echoed at senior International Hockey level.
The Pennie Pumas played their first game against Saxon Tigers and won 3 – 2 in a nail biting end to end game. Their second game was against Wales (Celtic Jaguars) this was a much more dominant game from the Pumas winning 2 – 0 to earn their place in the Finals against Scotland (Caledonian Cougars).
The finals were every bit a show stopper with both teams playing some exceptional hockey. Goals were going in in quick succession and it wasn’t long before the score line was 3-3. Both teams worked incredibly hard and both missed opportunities to take the lead. It wasn’t until the later stages of the game that Scotland Scored their 4th goal to take the Gold medal. Very well done to Matt on his selection for the Pumas and winning a Silver Medal.
