Rugby

Rugby Union is the major boys sport in the Michaelmas Term, whilst it is also offered to boys and girls in the 7 a-side format during the Lent Term. In addition to a competitive block fixture card there are also a number of day trips and over-night tours which further develop the pupils as individuals and as teams.

The Rugby programme runs from U8s through to 1st XV with boys’ 7 a-side teams at U11, U13, U14, U15, U16 and 1st VII, and girls at U15, and U18. There is a structured development programme in place, supported by experienced rugby staff complemented by physiotherapy and strength and conditioning provision. Our players are further supported by our partnership with Northampton Saints. Head of Rugby Alex Laybourne said, “We are delighted to be working with Saints and the relationship gives players a clear player pathway to Elite level Rugby”.

We have had a number of notable successes in recent years which include Ali Price (2012) who has represented Scotland at full international level and plays for Glasgow Warriors. We also have pupils who have been selected for the Scottish Exiles (U16s and U18s), the LAMBS (U16s and U18s), Eastern Counties (15s, U17s, U18s) and in both Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints Academy and Developing Player Programmes.
