Bursaries
WGS is committed to ensuring access to its fast-paced, rewarding and challenging academic curriculum for boys and girls from the widest possible range of backgrounds.
The School has a commitment to providing bursary awards to offer financial assistance to pupils who would not otherwise be able to take up a place in the Senior School thus allowing them to achieve their full potential.
The School’s practice is to allocate its entire available bursary funding on entry. The School asks that parents who wish to apply for a bursary declare their intention when registering. The School will assume that where there is no application for a bursary at the time that their child is being assessed that they will not require financial support whilst attending the School, except in wholly unforeseen circumstances.
Senior School Bursaries are means-tested and will require the parents to make a detailed and verifiable statement of their income and assets.
Awards range from 5% to 85%. In exceptional cases, an award of 100% may be granted. Bursaries are awarded on an individual basis and may be awarded alongside a scholarship. Pupils awarded bursaries will be expected to maintain high standards of achievement and engagement in their academic work whilst demonstrating a commitment to those activities that enrich School life including Art, Drama, Music and Sport.
A Bursary Application Pack can be requested at the point of registration from the Admissions Team.
- The parents will be asked to attend a meeting with a member of the Bursarial Team and then complete an online declaration of their financial situation;
- The prospective pupil will be invited to sit our entrance assessment and meet with a member of the Senior Staff.
An Awards Panel meets to review applications, but they will only be presented once the entrance assessment process has been completed.
A bursary may be withdrawn in accordance with the terms upon which such award is made or in accordance with the School’s Terms and Conditions of Award.
