After WGS

Senior staff and tutors all have many years of experience supporting pupils in their application to university. We pride ourselves on being well informed and able to offer the best advice to our 6th Form pupils.

When it is time to set sail, our pupils carry with them their time at Wisbech Grammar School with pride and courage.   Although most of the pupils from the School apply to a university, no young adult should feel they are on a ‘conveyor belt’.  The processes of discernment and decision-making are nurtured in many different contexts of school life. In conjunction with their tutors, the Senior Tutor, Oxbridge Coordinator and Careers Officer, pupils are well prepared for life after School with many courses and events organised for specific year groups, and comprehensive programme of enrichment to inspire and encourage our pupils’ independence of thought and action.

Research and planning begins in the Lower 6th when parents are invited to discuss the process and pupils receive training in the online application system.

This continues with visits to open days and then completion of the application early in the Upper 6th.  Pupils receive as much support as they need throughout this time from Form Tutors who have a relevant background.

The 6th Form Centre (The Hazel Centre) has an ICT suite where online research can take place. We also stock a current prospectus for every university in the country.
