Sport

Sport is an intrinsic part of School life at Wisbech Grammar School. From an early age we hope that pupils will engage in sport and fitness and discover the benefits that this brings to both health and well-being. We offer team sports against local and regional schools from under 9 to under 18 and we encourage pupils to take part in our program. We also participate in National and Regional competitions in Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Cricket and Athletics. Alongside this we also run clubs in Gymnastics, Badminton, Table-Tennis, Squash and Fitness, enabling pupils to develop sport and fitness for life.

With over 37 acres, we have wonderful facilities with 12 Rugby pitches ranging from under 9 to under 18, 5 grass cricket squares, 2 astro-turf pitches, a flood lit hockey pitch , 400 metres athletics track, alongside throwing and jumping areas. We also have a fully equipped sports hall with 5 cricket net bays, netball court, indoor hockey pitch, and badminton and basketball courts. To support pupils in improving their fitness we have a fitness suite and a studio where we hold fitness classes.

We have developed professional partnerships with Northampton Saints and Northampton CCC, which has allowed us to work alongside professional teams to give our pupils player pathways into Cricket and Rugby programmes .

We have highly qualified and experienced coaches leading sport throughout the School, several of whom coach to a high level outside of School. These are supported by a Physiotherapist and a Strength and Conditioning Coach to enable pupils to develop throughout the School.

We also partnered with Rookies Netball Club in Wisbech, which offers our pupils and children from the wider community the opportunity to play in teams throughout the year.

We are working to increase our partnership programmes across other sports during the coming year.
