Katy Landles (Lower 6th Form pupil at Wisbech Grammar School) has a real passion for art and fundraising and is holding a Charity Auction on 23 June in aid of ‘Children and The Arts’.
Katy has always been interested in art; whether it was creating arts and crafts on the kitchen table at home or visiting exhibitions of her favourite artists such as David Hockney and Georgia O’Keeffe.
The charity, ‘Children and the Arts’, helps children in disadvantaged communities and hospices, who may be missing out on creative and cultural experiences, by supporting incredibly important projects to provide access to the arts.
The auction will feature works from pupils, parents and teachers as well as local, national and internationally acclaimed artists, with an eclectic array of original works of paintings, prints and sculpture to signed prints and more. Works include donations from the 2016 Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year Winner, Richard Allen; Charming Baker who has sold work in Christie’s and exhibited around the world as well as local artist Paul White who is currently exhibiting in Hong Kong.
In support of Katy, the Prince's Foundation has kindly donated a hamper which will also be auctioned on the night.
In total there are 46 works featured in the catalogue; 28 will be auctioned during the live auction and the remainder in a silent auction. Be sure to keep updated on any late entries which will be advertised on the Facebook, Twitter and the WGS website!
100% of all the proceeds from the auction will be donated to Children & The Arts, helping to support this charity with the special work it does.
“Organising the Charity Art Auction has only made me fall in love with the idea of being surrounded by works of art even more, each with their own story, as well as to work with the buyers and sellers from all different backgrounds, forming relationships and networking around the globe. Communicating with various artists; local, national and international and solving obstacles as they arise has further fuelled my enthusiasm for working in the art world- I have truly caught the buzz” (Katy Landles Lower 6th Form Pupil Wisbech Grammar School)
The auction will be held at Wisbech Grammar School in the Skelton Hall on Friday 23 June, doors open at 17:30 with the auction commencing at 6:15. Every pledge and every bid counts so please come along to show your support and raise as much money as possible for such a worthy cause on this evening dedicated to the celebration of art.
